Our diploma in facial therapies is perfect for anyone who wants to offer a facial as a stand-alone treatment, as part of a package or an add-on. You will learn the fundamental skills to offer a professional, manual facial, whilst also learning about the principles of gentle chemical peels, micro-current, galvanic current and neck, shoulder and scalp massage. The course is suitable for both beauty and holistic therapists. This diploma course is suitable for existing therapists and those who are brand new to the industry. Ideally, you will have a keen interest in anatomy and physiology (A&P) and ongoing learning about the skin and facial therapies. You may already be pursuing a separate qualification in A&P or already possess one. During the course we will cover all necessary A&P theory.
As a therapy, facials are one of the most relaxing treatments a client can receive. Most people hold tension in their facial muscles so by massaging the face as well as the neck, shoulders and scalp, you are offering stress and tension release. This makes facial treatments a firm favourite with clients. Following this course you will be able to diagnose skin types, offer a professional and tailor made treatment, offer advice and treat specific skin concerns and also be able to recommend a suitable skincare regime at home. For existing holistic therapists, adding facials to your menu means you can offer extended treatments, design packages and also retail quality skincare if you choose.
You will learn how to offer a skincare focussed facial as well as a holistic one. You will learn about the various products available on the market and how to select a brand that is in keeping with your own ethos.
The course will cover:
- Effects and benefits of a facial
- Consultation process
- Health, safety & hygiene
- Contraindications and contra-actions
- Essential anatomy & physiology
- Professionalism and ethics
- Business practice
- Skin analysis
- Facial routine including facial massage
- Essential oils for facial massage
- Shoulder, neck and scalp massage
- Micro-current and galvanic technology
- Methods of adapting treatment
- Product selection
- Treatment planning and aftercare
- Practical assessment
- Case study preparation
Following the Course you will be:
- A fully trained facial therapist pending case studies
- Fully confident in how to price, promote and carry out a professional treatment
- Able to gain full insurance and professional membership
Many therapists go on to undertake further training with product houses as well as more advanced techniques
