Sunflower seed oil

Sunflower Oil contains linoleic acid, oleic acid, lecithin, carotenoids and has a high Vitamin E content. Very high in antioxidants, particularly the antioxidant vitamins A, C and E, which help prevent free damage to skin, which can contribute to premature aging. Research shows Sunflower oil is mostly absorbed but also provides a very light protective barrier that helps resist skin infections, and keeping away bacteria helping to maintain more youthful skin.

Perhaps the most important aspect of sunflower oil is its high vitamin E content. The health benefits of consuming vitamin E, or using it on the skin, have been studied for years and can be beneficial to your body in a variety of ways. Compared to other oils commonly used in skin care products, such as almond oil or shea butter, sunflower oil contains an extremely high amount of vitamin E. This vitamin is crucial in the prevention of damage to sensitive skin cells by ultraviolet light, or UVA, from the sun. Additionally, studies have shown that vitamin E may prevent scarring, smooth the appearance of existing wrinkles and generally improve the appearance and health of your skin.

Shea butter - Super food for your skin!

Shea butter is extracted from the nuts of the Shea tree (Butyrospermum parkii), which grows in the savannah of Western Africa. The English name Shea comes from its Bambara name "sii", which means sacred. As a sacred tree, it is treated with particular respect.. Growing up to 60 feet tall, the Shea tree does not flower before it is 20 years old and can live up to 200 years. The Shea nuts are traditionally harvested by women, crushed and boiled to extract the Shea butter, which has its unconditional aficionados all over the world. In the hot Sahara or Savannah, Shea butter protects the skin from the sun and dehydration. For millenia, people have used it to protect their skin from the drying winds and sun as well as to heal many skin problems, minor cuts and burns. The Egyptian Queen Nefertiti, who was magnificently beautiful, was said to owe her legendary beauty to the use of Shea butter.

What makes Shea butter an extraordinary skin care and an amazing body healer is its richness in precious constituents, which include unsaturated fats with a large proportion of "unsaponifiables" components, essential fatty acids, phytosterols, vitamin E and D, provitamin A and allantoin. All these are natural and make Shea butter a superfood for your skin (and hair), but that is not all it can do for you because it is:

  • Wrinkles, fine lines and scars repairing
  • Harsh climate protector- very cold and hot
  • Prolongs your sun tan
  • Deeply moisturising
  • Body Healer- anti inflammatory  so good for irritation, psoriasis, eczema, bites, burns, skin cracking, rashes. This combined with our gentle soothing rose is an excellent combination for these conditions

Apricot kernel oil

Rich in essential fatty acids like oleic and linoleic acid, apricot kernel oil is high in vitamin A. Since it easily penetrates the skin, it is good oil for prematurely aged, dry or irritated skin. The excellent softening and moisturising properties are great for face, hands and hair. Vitamins A & C are good for mature, dry or sensitive skin. The apricot kernel oil helps skin retain elasticity, clarity, and suppleness

Rosa mosqueta oil

As used in our cuticle oil!

It is the oil extracted from the seeds of a rose bush that grows wild in the south of Chile, a cool and very rainy Andean region.  The oil pressed off the Rosehip seed contains an amazing 77% of fatty acids (linoleic and linolenic). Fatty acids have very important functions in the regeneration of skin cells and repair of damaged tissues. Over the years, Rose Hip Oil has been shown to retard the signs of premature ageing and provide excellent results in the treatment of burns, scars and unsightly spots on skin.

Jojoba seed oil

Jojoba (pronounced ho-HO-ba) is a botanical extract of the seed of the jojoba tree (Simmondsia chinenis). What’s interesting about it is that it isn’t actually an oil, but rather what they call a wax ester. Why do we care? Because out of all of the compounds in nature, this wax ester is the most similar to human skin oil (sebum). It is theorized that applying jojoba to the skin can “trick” the skin into thinking it is producing enough oil, thus balancing oil production.

Provides all day moisturization – jojoba oil doesn’t evaporate like water based moisturizers can.

How to use the Rose Face and Body Balm

  • AM and PM as facial moisturiser on a normal to dry/mature and sensitive skin.
  • It works in the morning putting make up over it- just blot lightly with a tissue before applying base
  • Best combined with rosehip facial scrub.
  • All over body as a moisturiser, use Rose geranium body wash and then dry and apply this
  • For drying/anti age routine you could replace night balm with this or use Rose Face and body balm in the morning and night balm in the evening
