How to use
HOW TO GET THE MOST FROM YOUR CANDLES AND NOT WASTE MONEY

Candle care is a real thing! Whether you have paid a little or a lot for a candle, you should be aiming to get the best from it. The main aim is to have a candle that when it is lit, the entire surface melts - so that it burns down evenly all the way till it is empty. You don’t want ‘candle tunnels’ where you get lots of wax left up the edges of the glass. This is wasteful and means you won’t have got the true longevity out of your candle, nor the aroma. Real natural soya or vegetable-based wax candle treated the right way should be able to do all of these things. Paraffin-based candles, the majority on the market tend to tunnel whatever you do sadly. They will often get black marks and fumes too as you are burning a petrol derivative.

What do I need to do?
 Take a lot of notice of the wick- it is the key to everything!
 Wick care is crucial for the long life of your candle. It should be clean and no longer than 6mm at all times.
 When you light the wick, it should be standing upright. If it is bending over to one side, then when you light it - the heat will be unevenly distributed, and one side of your surface will melt right to the edges and the other side won’t. The result will be an uneven surface, when it solidifies one side will be higher than the other. You have to make sure this never happens, as once it does, the candle will never burn evenly again.
 Please note with cheap paraffin-based candles they normally tunnel and won’t often burn right to the edges, so you have a pool of melted wax all over. This is normally a tell-tale sign they aren’t vegetable or soya wax based.
 We suggest you burn the candle long enough for the melted wax pool to go to the edge of the glass. This enables the candle to burn down evenly and for the aroma to disperse well.
 Don’t leave your candle next to a cold window and light it. You need to ensure your candle and glass are not cold or in a cold ambient temperature when lighting, as this can stop the burn pool coming to the edge of the glass. Again, one side will melt and the side next to the window won’t melt as evenly.
 Do not move the candle or relight before it has returned to a solid state.

Some general Health & Safety too!
 Never leave a burning candle unattended, place on a heat resistant surface with headroom for the heat and flame.
 Keep out of the reach of children and animals.
